Each one is completely different from the others and never to be seen again! With the title taken from audience suggestions, the (let’s face it) adored ad-lib comedy ensemble, alongside a full live band, sing and dance their way through musical extravaganzas like Nicola Sturgeon; Hypnotist, Kanye West Side Story, Big Sunak Attack and Nightmare on Nicholson Street.
After years of sell-out runs and critical acclaim, Baby Wants Candy (the team behind international hit sensations Thrones! The Musical, 50 Shades! and Shamilton!) has now long been a Fringe institution with fans coming back night after night (believe us, some do) as each show is a roller-coaster ride of spontaneously choreographed numbers. Unscripted, unguided, unpredictable… and often uncontrollable. With well over 3000 improvised musicals already under their belt, it is no wonder that they are on the absolute top of their game.
Last year they enjoyed a semester long artist-in-residency and course called Creating Comedy for Television at Princeton University. Their comedy pilot Backwater created through the residency is currently being shopped.
With casts in Chicago, LA and New York and an international touring company, Baby Wants Candy has launched the careers of various top comedic actors and writers in the US; Craig Cackowski (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Arrested Development), Jack McBrayer (Kenneth in 30 Rock), Vanessa Bayer and Aidy Bryant (Saturday Night Live), Thomas Middleditch (HBO’s Silicon Valley), Peter Gwinn (Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report), Chris Grace (Superstore), Amber Ruffin (Amber Ruffin Show), Chris Witaske (The Bear), John Hartman (Ghosts) and Ross Bryant (The Good Place).
With various extra shows added over multiple Fringes, sell-out shows and five-star reviews the world over, be sure to catch one (or two) of their completely original musicals this summer!
Where possible we will update our listings to notify of cancelled, postponed and rescheduled events, however we STRONGLY ADVISE that you check with the venue/organiser in the first instance for updates.
