Ross McEwen explains how the lore and legend of Scottish Clan Chiefs, and the modern Scottish legal framework, means global Scottish Clan culture is experiencing an enduring revival.

‘Heraldry in Chief’ - Welcome to the new world of Scottish Clan Chiefs

About ‘Heraldry in Chief’ - Welcome to the new world of Scottish Clan Chiefs

Presented by Clan Heraldry subject specialist Ross McEwen.

The age of swords of shields may (for the most part...) be over, however we are now living in the renaissance of Scottish Clan culture, not just in Scotland, but around the world.

This free public lecture is part of the 2024 programme of The Heraldry Society of Scotland, will journey through the legal standing of Scottish Clan Chiefs, how does someone become one, and how Scots Heraldry and the Court of the Lord Lyon recognises Chiefs of Clans and Families, and what this means for communities with Scottish heritage around the world.
